RYA/MCA ADVANCED CERTIFICATE OF COMPETENCE

FOR VESSELS UNDER 24M IN LENGTH USED  COMMERCIALY

EXAM DURATION;

  • 1 Candidate     4-5hours
  •  2 Candidates  5-6hours
  •  3 Candidates  6-7hours

PRE EXAM REQUIREMENTS;

Advanced powerboat certificate

Minimum seatime; 2years relevant experience including night pilotage

20 Days, 2 Days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours, logged

First Aid Cert, Vhf cert, Sea survival cert, Medical fitness cert(ML5)

Candidate wil be examined on the following:

  • PREPERATION FOR SEA
  • BOAT HANDLING
  • RESPOSIBILITIES OF SKIPPER
  • PASSAGE MAKING AND PILOTAGE
  • METEOROLOGY
  • RULES OF THE ROAD
  • SAFETY

We will provide you with all you require to successfully pass you assessment.

Provide pre assessment prep and will arrange all paper work and examaniner for you. 

You can use your own boat or we can provide the boat and equipment for you.

With regards to feedback I would again like to thank you for your excellent training that has given me the confidence to handle my boat in a whole new range of conditions. For example, last night I came back from Rathlin in total darkness at HW+3 plus wind against tide - something that I would have tried to avoid in the past. Overall though I think the best feedback was passing the Advanced exam. I do not believe there is any way that I could ever have reached the required standard without your help, guidance and support - the books were vital and made a real difference in the oral questions!
